with Dick O'Malley Tuesday, July 25 There's much enticement and encouragement today for people to explore their family history online, and very good reason to do so as more and more information is available there. But for many it's not as easy as the TV shows make it look and confusion may soon reign. Books Can Help! At the July FHIG meeting, experienced genealogy researcher Dick O'Malley will highlight the ways books have proven useful to him in obtaining family knowledge and share recommendations for ones that may be helpful to YOU! Books can help you improve your research technique and find more success in searching, they can point you to online sites that may be rich resources for you, and by no means least important - much information that is in books of various kinds isn't accessible via the Internet! Plan to join us for a lively and useful exchange. No experience in family history research is required for this meeting. All are welcome!

Death in reel time : a family history mystery by Brynn Bonner
"In this second Family History mystery, a professional genealogist realizes the family history she's tracing may be repeating itself after her client's son-in-law turns up dead. When genealogist duo Sophreena McClure and Esme Sabatier are hired to tracethe family tree of Olivia Clement, they think the job will be an easy one. But then Olivia's son-in-law is murdered. As the investigation begins, an ill wind of suspicion sweeps through the small town of Morningside, North Carolina. And as Sophreena and Esme delve into Olivia's family history to find out more about her father's disappearance back in the 1940s, they discover that the events of the past are proving to shed light on the present.."
