Starting Your Small Business Thursday, February 16th at 6:30 PM The goal of this presentation is to create the awareness that any business will need leveraging (financing) to get off the ground and continue that forward motion. Movie Night Thursday, February 23rd at 6:00 PM Come see Southside With You, the 2016 film that chronicles the summer 1989 afternoon when the future President of the United States, Barack Obama, wooed his future First Lady, Michelle Obama, on a first date across Chicago's South Side. (PG-13/84 min.). For age 17 & up. Adult Recreational Chess Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM The library is now offering an adult recreational chess club for people of all skill levels, even beginners! This is your chance to learn the game, play the game, and meet other people interested in the game. Chess sets provided, or bring your own. Adult Coloring Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM Adult drop-in program - Join other adults who are participating in the relaxing hobby of coloring. Colored pencils, pens, and coloring sheets provided. Spy TrainingFriday, February 17th from 7:00 - 9:00 PMAttention future agents, the world needs you! Report for training at this after-hours event, and learn what it takes to save the world. A top-secret mission awaits for those clever enough to crack the codes. Registration and a signed parental consent are required to participate. This is a lock-in event for grades 4th-6th only. Crazy 8s Tuesdays at 5:00 PM Crazy 8s is a new after-school math club for 1st and 2nd graders designed to get them fired up about math. Dragons Love Tacos Monday, February 20th at 3:00 PM Dragons Love Tacos and so do we! Join us for a young chef cooking program based on the book by Adam Rubin! We’ll share the story, then work to create our own salsa to top our tacos. Parents should plan on attending and assisting! Superhero Lego League Saturday, February 25th at 3:00 PM There’s no better combination than Superheroes and Legos! We’ll have both at this special event. Join our Super guests in overcoming Lego challenges to save the world! Challenges won’t be easy, but we’ll work together to save the city! Munchkin Meetup Thursday, February 2nd & 16th from 3:00 - 4:00 PM This drop-in program will include a number of stations for preschool age kids with a range of abilities including toys, sensory and active play, art, and even a little bit of science. Science Sleuths Thursday, February 16th at 11:00 AM This 30 minute program is designed for preschool age children. Small sleuths accompanied by an adult will experiment with items and guess which ones sink and float. Please register each month. Click here to register online. Aspiring Artists Thursday, February 23rd at 11:00 AM Preschool children, accompanied by their adult, can explore art with an art activity and craft inspired by Andy Warhol. Book Babies Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 9:00 AM & on Saturday, February 11th & 25th at 9:30 AM Bounce, sing, shake, and play with us at this “can’t sit still” story time! We’ll have 20-30 minutes of interactive programming, followed by an unstructured playtime where children and caregivers can interact with their peers! Toddler TimeMondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 10:00 AM This short-attention span story time is perfect for toddlers. We’ll share short books, rhymes, and music in the first thirty minutes, followed by a chance to stay and play! Evening Family Story Time Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM Children of all ages may come in their pajamas, if you like, for stories and fun. Family Story Time Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 AM and 10:15 AM & on Saturday, February 11th & 25th at 10:30 AM Features stories, songs, and activities and is open to all ages. Sessions last about 30 minutes.
