Thursday, July 9th at 7:00 pm in Meeting Room A/B Families with kids age 3 and up will enjoy this life-size, high-energy, puppet show that encourages kids to strive for the H.E.R.O. ideals of honesty, enthusiasm, respect and optimism. No registration but space is limited. Touch-A-Truck Tuesday, July 14th from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Library Parking Lot Kids can sit in and touch a variety of big vehicles. No registration. Iowa League of HeroesThursday, July 16th from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in Meeting Room A/B Kids are invited to drop by the Library and meet a super hero! Three super heroes will be available for photo ops. Kids can also create their own super hero mask. No registration. Blank Park Zoo - Powers of a Superhero Friday, July 17th at 10:30 am in Meeting Room A/B Do you know of any animals that are faster than a speeding bullet; more powerful than a locomotive; or able to leap tall buildings in a single bound? Families with kids age 3 years and up will leave this presentation with a new appreciation of the amazing strength and highly-developed senses that give some animals superhero powers. No registration but space is limited. Jason Kollum, Juggler Thursday, July 23rd at 7:00 pm in Meeting Room A/B Get ready to be wowed by lots of awesome juggling and balancing stunts! Jason provides a family show (age 3 & up) that is filled with zany comedy, audience participation and excitement. No registration but space is limited. Geoff Akins, Bubble Artist Friday, July 24th at 10:30 am in Meeting Room A/B You'll never look at bubbles the same way again. Watch spellbound as Geoff creates bubbles inside of bubbles, bubble caterpillars, dancing bubbles, fog-filled bubbles, kid-in-a-bubble and much more! Anything is possible during this entertaining and inspiring family (age 3 & up) performance. No registration but space is limited.

Book Babies Mondays,Tuesdays and Fridays (July 6-24) at 9:30 am An introduction to literacy for children age 12 – 24 months with an adult. Book Babies includes stories, music, rhymes, and activities. Programs last approximately 20 minutes. No registration. Toddler Time Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays (July 6-24) at 10:00 am Toddler Time is for two year old children with an adult. The twenty minute session is filled with short stories, songs and activities that will engage busy toddlers. No registration. Evening Family Story Time
Tuesdays (July 7-21) at 7:00 pm Open to children ages 2 and up with adult. This 30-minute story time includes stories, songs and activities. Children may come in their pajamas, if preferred. No registration. Daytime Family Story Time |

Wednesdays and Thursdays (July 8-23) at 9:30 am and 10:15 am Open to children ages 2 and up with adult. Story Time includes stories, songs and activities. Sessions last about 30 minutes. No registration.

Minecraft Mania Mondays (July 6, 13, 20) from 4:00 to 5:30 pm Kids age 8 to 12 years old are encouraged to test their Minecraft skills on the Youth Services computers and with console games. No registration. Magic Tree House Book Club Monday, July 20th at 7:00 pm or Thursday, July 23 at 10:30 am Kids age 6 to 9 years old, who love the Magic Tree House books by Mary Pope Osborne, can explore fascinating topics with fun activities and a craft. The Magic Tree House Club will investigate the book Earthquake in the Early Morning. Please register for one session each month by calling 278-3945. LEGO Robotics Wednesday, July 22nd from 6:30 to 7:30 pm in the Story Room Kids, age 6 and up can drop by the Story Room and interact with the high school robotics team, Team ASAP. Kids can drive a LEGO robot through a maze and learn how to modify an existing robot to accomplish a specific task. No registration. LEGO Club Friday, July 24th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the Story Room Kids, age 5 and up, join other LEGO enthusiasts and create unique LEGO designs. LEGOs and fun provided. No registration.

Teen Party Friday, July 10th from 6:30 to 10:30 pm in the Library Teens age 12-18, are invited to this after-hours party. Watch an interactive movie about a group of intergalactic superheroes who have to work together to stop an evil warrior from destroying the universe. There will also be superhero activities, games, crafts, and food. Bring a friend and help us celebrate summer. The party will end at 10:30 pm. Teen Knitting Tuesday, July 14th at 5:30 pm in the Conference Room Teen knitters age 13-18 of all skill levels (even beginners!) are welcome to join the fun. Teens can learn to knit, try out some new knitting projects or knit items to give to others. Knitting needles and yarn will be provided. Please call 278-3945 or email trohe@urbandale.org to register. Anime ClubTuesday, July 28th at 6:00 pm in the Conference RoomIf you love manga (Japanese print comics) and/or anime (Japanese animation) and are a kid age 12-14, then Anime Club is for you! Watch a variety of anime, talk about manga, create art projects and treat yourself to Japanese snacks. No registration.

Movie Night Thursday, July 23rd at 6:00 pm in the ICN Room This month we’ll be showing a biography about a South African leader, whose life of struggle, humanity, destiny, and greatness are recalled and celebrated by those who knew him best and who worked with him in a quest to break the chains of oppression. (NR-95 min) Appropriate for age 17 & up.
