Author Visit - Linda Betsinger McCann Wednesday, October 29th at 6:00 pm in Meeting Room A Guest speaker and author Linda Betsinger McCann will share how Prohibition, the thirteen-year period in U.S. history that attempted to control the drinking of alcohol, affected Eastern Iowa. From farmers who grew corn, to bootleggers who brought in liquor from Chicago, to visits from Al Capone, to a gun battle on a two-lane highway, Eastern Iowa saw it all. Linda McCann is the author of several books about Iowa, including Lost Bremer County and Lost Black Hawk County. She is also president and founding member of the Shell Rock Historical Society. Join us at the library for an evening of stories with historical interest.
