One Man, One War, One Hundred Years Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30 PM One Man, One War, One Hundred Years is an art exhibition created by Urbandale, Iowa, artist Michael Wilson. It commemorates the 100th anniversary of the World War One armistice. Wilson’s Great Uncle served in WWI and kept a small leather datebook logging dates and descriptions of his experiences. The paintings in the exhibition are inspired by entries in the datebook. Michael Wilson will show a PowerPoint presentation of his paintings and will talk about the exhibition. One Man, One War, One Hundred Years is endorsed as an official project of the U.S. World War One Centennial Commission and the Iowa WWI Centennial Committee. The Way of Nile Kinnick, Jr., Author Lecture Tuesday, May 21st at 6:30 PM Join Iowa author Mark D. Wilson as he discusses his book, "The Way of Nile Kinnick, Jr.: Insights, Images, and Stories of Iowa's 1939 Heisman Trophy Winner. " Wilson says, “In our lifetimes, many of us have had or still have an individual we look up to; someone who inspires us, challenges us, helps us face adversities, or helps us form a positive outlook on life. Nile Clarke Kinnick, Jr. is that person for me. Kinnick’s way of thinking inspired me to write the book, "The Way of Nile Kinnick, Jr.", a compilation of 366 memorable quotes from his letters, journals, and speeches. I was also driven to share my connections to this fascinating and admirable young man through my own personal stories.”
