Winter Reading Program: Treasure Your Library NOW through February 27th Ahoy Mateys! If the snow, ice, and cold are getting you down, consider joining a winter reading program at the library. Get hooked on books and earn treasure just for reading. - Kids are 3-12 can pick up their book bag and pirate reading log at the Youth Services Desk.
- Adult packets are available at any service desk.

Be Mine, Valentine Story Time Saturday, February 13th at 10:30 am in the Story Room Love will be in the air at this story time for families with children age 2 and up. Listen to stories, sing silly songs and make a Valentine craft. No registration.

No preschool Story Times or Mothers and Others Monday, February 15 Toddler Time
Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:00 am Toddler Time is for two year old children with an adult. The twenty minute session is filled with stories, music and movement. No registration. Book Babies Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:30 am An introduction to literacy for children age 12 – 24 months with an adult. Participate in simple stories, activities and songs. Programs last approximately 20 minutes. No registration. Mothers and Others Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 am Caregivers of children age infant to 36 months are invited to drop in and socialize, while your babies explore the blocks, cars, and other toys available in the Story Room. No registration. Evening Family Story Time Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm Youngsters age two and up may come in their pajamas, if you like, for stories and fun. No registration. Morning Family Story Time Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 am and 10:15 am Features stories, songs, and activities and is open to youngsters ages 2 and up. Sessions last about 30 minutes. No registration. Science Sleuths Friday, February 12th at 10:30 am Science Sleuths is a thirty-minute hands-on science program designed for kids age 3 – 6. Small sleuths, accompanied by their parents, will explore whether items sink or float. Listen to a story, make a craft, and enjoy other activities. Please register each month by calling 278-3945. Aspiring Artists Friday, February 19th at 11:00 am Children ages 3 to 6 years can explore a great artist each month at this new program. Expose your child to an artist's life and style of painting with a story and an art activity. Small artists must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Please register each month by calling 278-3945.

Minecraft Mania Mondays (February 1, 8, 22, 29) from 4:00 to 5:30 pm Kids age 8 to 12 years are encouraged to test their Minecraft skills on the Youth Services computers and with console games. No registration. No Minecraft Monday, February 15. LEGO Robotics
Wednesday, February 10th from 6:30 to 7:15 pm in the ICN Classroom Kids age 8 to 12 years will work in small groups to program a robot to navigate a maze. Please register each month by calling 278-3945. Magic Tree House Book Club Monday, February 22nd from 7:00 to 7:45 pm in Meeting Room B Kids age 6 to 9 years old, who love the Magic Tree House books by Mary Pope Osborne, will love the activities and craft based on the High Tide in Hawaii book. Register each month by calling 278-3945. LEGO Club Friday, February 26th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the Story Room Kids, age 5 and up, join other LEGO enthusiasts and create unique LEGO designs. LEGOs and fun provided. No registration.

Teen Book Club Wednesday, February 17th at 6:30 pm in the ICN Classroom Teens ages 13 and up are invited to join the teen book club. Book club meets once a month and participants receive a free copy of the book. This month’s book discussion title is I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. Questions?? Iowa Icons Thursday, February 4th at 6:30 pm in Meeting Room A Second in a year-long series of programs highlighting the lives and accomplishments of historically significant individuals with an Iowa connection. This program will feature Norman Borlaug, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize and father of the Green Revolution. Trains Across Iowa Thursday, February 18th at 6:30 pm in the ICN Classroom Rudy Daniels describes the past, present and future of the Hawkeye State's railroads. The program explores Iowa's unique position in the construction of the first transcontinental railroad and Iowa's great contribution to railroad safety. The talk also describes the famous streamliners that rode Iowa's rails. All aboard for an Iowa rail adventure! Movie Night Thursday, February 25th at 6:00 pm in the ICN Classroom This month we’ll be showing a 2016 drama based on a real-life event, when a gold and copper mine collapses and traps 33 miners underground for 69 days. (PG-13/127 min). Appropriate for ages 17 & up.
