SPECIAL PROGRAMS DURING THE HOLIDAYS Santa Story Times - December 13-15 Families can enjoy story time and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus on Tuesday (12/13) at 7:00 PM, & Wednesday (12/14) and Thursday, (12/15) at 9:30 AM and 10:15 AM. Frozen Interactive Movie - December 28th at 2:00 PM Step inside your favorite winter movie. Singing, crafts, snowstorms, and snacks can be expected. All ages. Game-On - December 28th from 4:00-5:00 PM Whether you prefer board games, card games, or something in between, we’ve got you covered! Ages 8+. Animal Tracks - December 29th at 11:00 AM Polk County Conservation brings fun for the whole family with their Animal Tracks program. All ages. Noon Year’s Eve - December 31st at 11:00 AM Not sure you’ll make it to midnight? Count down the noon year with a crazy dance party complete with a DJ, balloons, & a ball drop in the parking lot at noon! All ages.

Adult Coloring Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM Adult drop-in program - Join other adults who are participating in the relaxing hobby of coloring. Colored pencils, pens, and coloring sheets provided. Active Adults Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM Adult drop-in program - We'll provide crafts, puzzles, games, and more - all you have to do is show up and choose your activity! Friday FlicksFridays at 1:00 PM We will be showing holiday movies this month! 12/2 - National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (PG-13/97 min.) 12/9 - Meet Me in St. Louis (NR/113 min.) 12/16 - Scrooged (PG-13/101 min.) 12/23 - Krampus (PG-13/98 min.) 12/30 - New Year’s Eve (PG-13/117 min.)
Adult Recreational Chess Saturday, December 3rd & 17th from 9:30 to 11:30 AM The library is now offering an adult recreational chess club for people of all skill levels, even beginners! This is your chance to learn the game, play the game, and meet other people interested in the game. Chess sets provided, or bring your own.

FINALS WEEK - TEEN STRESS RELIEF! Stress relieving activities and snacks exclusively for teens during finals week, December 17th through the 22nd. - WALKING TACOS - Saturday, 12/17 from 1:00-2:00 PM. Keep those tummies from rumbling by eating free tacos!
- THERAPY DOGS - Saturday, 12/17 from 3:00-4:00 PM & again on Sunday, 12/18 from 2:00-3:30 PM. Cuddle the stress away by petting some awesome therapy dogs.
- ZEN CHAIR MASSAGES - Sunday, 12/18 from 1:30-3:30 PM. Get those knots worked out with a free chair massage from a professional masseuse!
- BLOW IT UP! - Tuesday, 12/20 at 7:00 PM. Paint your feelings with a hammer, bust into the piñata, and create an actual explosion!
- TAKE IT BACK! - Wednesday, 12/21 at 7:00 PM. Go back to younger years with playdough, finger paint, and blanket forts!
- TREAT YO SELF! - Thursday, 12/22 at 7:00 PM. Take time to pamper yourself with temporary tattoos, DIY facials, and by making stress balls.

Teen Book Club (TBC) Monday, December 12th at 6:30 PM Teens ages 13 and up are invited to join the TBC for snacks and discussion. TBC meets the second Monday of every month. Participants receive a free copy of What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions by Randall Munroe. Teens can also participate in the book discussions through Edmodo.

Wednesdays (December 7, 14, & 21) from 4:00 to 5:00 PM Kids age 8 and up can get some hands-on, chess experience. Whether you’re a newbie, an intermediate or a seasoned player, drop by the Library to share your interest in the game of chess. No meeting on Wednesday, December 28th...instead join us for Game On! Minecraft Mania Mondays (December 5, 12, & 19) from 4:00 to 5:30 pm Kids of all ages are encouraged to test their Minecraft skills on the computers in the children's area and with console games. No registration.

Science Sleuths Friday, December 9th at 11:00 AM This thirty-minute hands-on science program designed for kids ages 3 – 6. Small sleuths, accompanied by an adult, will explore buildings and construction. Kids will listen to a story, make a craft and enjoy other activities. Please register each month online or by calling 278-3945. Aspiring Artists Friday, December 16th at 11:00 AM Children age 3 to 6 years can explore the art of Mary Cassatt. Expose your child to different types of art and help them with an art activity. Small artists must be accompanied by an adult care giver. Please register each month online, or by calling 278-3945.

Book Babies Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 9:30 AM An introduction to literacy for children age 12 – 24 months with an adult. Participate in simple stories, activities and songs. Programs last approximately 20 minutes. No Book Babies December 19th through the 30th. Toddler TimeMondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 10:00 AM Toddler Time is for two year old children with an adult. The twenty minute session is filled with stories, music and movement. No Toddler Time December 19th through the 30th. Evening Family Story Time Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM Youngsters age two and up may come in their pajamas, if you like, for stories and fun. No Story Times December 19th through the 30th. Family Story Time Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 AM and 10:15 AM Features stories, songs, and activities and is open to youngsters ages 2 and up. Sessions last about 30 minutes. No Story Times December 19th through the 30th. Mothers & Others Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM Caregivers of children age infant to 36 months are invited to drop in and socialize, while your babies explore the board books, blocks, balls and other toys available in the Story Room. Drop by on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 am. No Mothers & Others December 19th through the 30th.
