Holiday Closings
Urbandale Public Library will be closed Sunday, September 6th & Monday September 7th for the Labor Day holiday

Book Babies Mondays,Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:30 am (beginning Sept. 8th) An introduction to literacy for children age 12 – 24 months with an adult. Book Babies includes stories, music, rhymes, and activities. Programs last approximately 20 minutes. No registration. Mothers and Others Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 am (beginning Sept. 8th) Caregivers of children age infant to 36 months are invited to drop in and socialize, while your babies explore the board books, blocks, balls and other toys available in the Story Room. No registration. Toddler Time Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:00 am (beginning Sept. 8th) Toddler Time is for two year old children with an adult. The twenty minute session is filled with short stories, songs and activities that will engage busy toddlers. No registration. Evening Family Story Time
Tuesdays at 7:00 pm (beginning Sept. 8th) Open to children ages 2 and up with adult. This 30-minute story time includes stories, songs and activities. Children may come in their pajamas, if preferred. No registration. Daytime Family Story Time |

Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 am and 10:15 am (beginning Sept. 9th) Open to children ages 2 and up with adult. Story Time includes stories, songs and activities. Sessions last about 30 minutes. No registration. Science Sleuths Friday, September 18th at 10:30 am in the Story Room Science Sleuths is a thirty-minute hands-on science program designed for kids age 3 – 6. Small sleuths, accompanied by an adult will explore the properties of air. Kids will listen to a story, make a craft and enjoy other activities. Please register each month by calling 278-3945.

Minecraft Mania Mondays (September 14, 21, 28) from 4:00 to 5:30 pm Kids age 8 to 12 years old are encouraged to test their Minecraft skills on the Youth Services computers and with console games. No registration. LEGO Club Friday, September 25th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the Story Room Kids age 5 and up can join other LEGO enthusiasts and create unique LEGO designs. LEGOs and fun provided. No registration. Magic Tree House Book Club Monday, September 28th at 7:00 pm Kids age 6 to 9 years old who love the Magic Tree House books by Mary Pope Osborne can explore fascinating topics with fun activities and a craft. The Magic Tree House Club will investigate the book Stage Fright on a Summer Night. Please register each month by calling 278-3945.

Teen Advisory Board Tuesday, September 22nd at 6:00 pm in the Teen Area Calling all teens age 13-17. If you want to meet new people and make a difference, come join TAB. Teens have an opportunity to give input on the library's books, video games, music, programs, resources, and teen space. Call 278-3945 or email trohe@urbandale.org with questions. Teen Book Club Wednesday, September 23rd at 6:30 pm in the Teen Area High School students age 13 and older are invited to the library to attend Teen Book Club. This will be an introductory meeting, and teens will receive a copy of the first book we will be discussing which is The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. AUTHOR VISIT
Mark your calendars to join us on Thursday, October 15th at 6:30 PM for a special presentation from New York Times Bestselling author Robin Oliveira! She will be here to talk about the 2015 All Iowa Reads book "My Name is Mary Sutter" and her newest book, "I Always Loved You." This program is sponsored by the Urbandale Public Library but will be held at the Giovannetti Shelter at Walker Johnston Park in Urbandale.
