Library patrons now have access to a new audio/visual content creation workstation in the Technology Center. A computer has been loaded with Adobe Creative Cloud software for learning about and creating digital design projects. The Creation Station offers Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Premiere, and more.
The workstation computer has two monitors and headphones, allowing learners to have lynda.com tutorials running on one screen while they follow along using the practice files on the second screen. Dual screens are also helpful for experienced desiners working on complicated editing projects.
To use the workstation, simply sign up at the Tech Center desk for a maximum four-hour session. Contact the library at (785) 776-4741 ext. 500 if you have questions.
One of the most important missions we have as librarians is to inspire a love of books and reading in young children. Visit one of the nine weekly storytime sessions to help your youngsters get ready for reading and learning.
Design a custom bookmark using the theme "Unleash Your Story." The winning bookmark will be mass-produced and distributed in the library, and also exhibited at poster size during Teen Read Week 2017 (Oct. 8-14). Artwork should be 2" x 8" and markers or bold colors work best.
This series of classes is designed for people ages 16 - 30 who want to conquer this whole "adulting" thing with style. This month, instructors from the MATC Automotive Technology department will go over the basics of car maintenance, then experts from Hale Library will talk about how to make sure facts are really facts.
