Special Storytimes PreK Yoga Storytime December 4, 11, & 18 | 11 - 11:30 AM Join us for stretching, breathing, yoga poses and some fun stories. Suggested for ages 3-5; parents and caregivers welcome. Feel free to bring your yoga mat, or find a spot on our storytime rug. Storytime with Parents As Teachers Saturday, December 7 Session 1: 9:30 - 10 AM Session 2: 11 - 11:30 AM You're invited to this special Saturday storytime! After storytime check out a bag of books to take home. All ages are welcome, and families are encouraged to attend together. Co-sponsored by Parents as Teachers. Two storytimes will be offered on this morning, one at 9:30 and another at 11:00. These storytimes will be identical, and we ask that families choose just one session to attend.

Geometric Abstraction with Art Monday, December 30 | 2 - 3 PM Tami Borck Storytime Room Get inspiration for creating your own geometric abstraction from artists like Piet Mondrian, Frank Stella, Alan Shields and the Op Art movement. The Beach Museum of Art staff will do a short presentation and provide plenty of tools and supplies to make your own masterpiece. Part of the library's Full STEAM Ahead programming. Suggested for kids in K-6th grade.

Monday Movies for Teens December 2, 9, & 16 | 3 - 5 PM Movies and snacks after school in the Teen Zone. Teens will get to vote to choose the movie selection on from a couple options each week.

Escape Library Wednesday, December 11 | 4 - 5 PM Using teamwork, you have 60 minutes to "escape" the library. The room theme is a surprise and will include puzzles, codes and a prize at the end. Two rooms of the same design run concurrently and the two rooms compete to solve the puzzle first. Each team consists of a maximum of 8 teens, meaning that a total of 16 teens can attend the Escape Library program each month. Registration is required. Register online or at the Adult Services Desk or Teen Zone Desk.

KS Humanities Book Talk Thursday, December 5 | 2 - 4 PM Groesbeck Meeting Room This December, bring your thoughts and feelings and share Rachel’s story in The Romance Reader by Pearl Abraham with our discussion group. Rachel, the oldest daughter of a Hasidic rabbi, is expected to care for her siblings, dress modestly, and submit to an arranged marriage. But Rachel, reading forbidden romance novels, yearns for some of the forbidden fruits of the secular world. Books will be available for you to check out at the Reference Desk on 2nd floor.

Family Free Play Friday, December 27 | 2 - 4 PM Tami Borck Storytime Room Try out some of our interesting board games and card games. Create imaginative masterpieces from our leftover craft supplies from the year. Come and go between 2 and 4.
