Amber's list: Mom, Mother, Momma, Madre, Mommy (Because Mother's Day should be a month-long celebration.) I’m always looking for a meaningful way to celebrate my mom this time of year, and that doesn’t have to mean a gift in the traditional sense. I really wanted to do something different for her this year, so I put together a list of her favorite books, CDs and movies to share on my personal librarian page. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! I hope you have a wonderful day! To see what other books my mom and I love, click here. |

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Set in the Oregon frontier, a young woman named Milly marries woodsman Adam and discovers that she has to keep house for his six brothers as well, and the brothers discover that they also want wives
This is the first musical I ever saw. My mother sat me done in third grade and showed me this amazing movie musical. After that I became the biggest theatre nerd ever. I think this is a classic musical that any theatre/musical enthusiast should watch.

Change of Heart: A Novel
by Jodi Picoult
Her life shattered by a devastating act of violence, June Nealon is forced to make a pivotal choice that involves her twelve-year-old daughter and a salvation-seeking crimina
A love of Jodi Picoult books is something that has been shared between my mother and I since I was a teen. "Change of Heart" is one of the books that will have you turning the pages so quickly, you won't realize you finish it until you're done! And once you're done, you won't be able to stop thinking about it.

The Sun Is Also a Star
by Nicola Yoon
Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.
Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.
The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?
