The 2017 Dallas Book Festival is Saturday, April 29th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Central Library in Downtown Dallas. Whether your interest is fiction, poetry, young adult, children's, non-fiction, or any kind of book, the festival has got something for you! This year, the Festival will co-locate with the Dallas Festival of Ideasat the Central Library, City Hall Plaza, and on Young Street.

With so much going on throughout the Library, it would be easy to overlook something! Here are a few things you might not want to miss:
The Festival schedule is packed with events for kids in the Children's Center on the 2nd floor! Here are some highlights: nonstop storytime, including former Houston Texan player Wade Smith reading from his brand-new picture book Smitty Tackles Bullying; a poetry workshop with Renée Watson; and craft activities celebrating the work of bestselling children's author Eric Litwin, creator of the "Pete the Cat" series.
The Marketplace: Meet over 40 authors and organizations in the Library's Showcase area. You might just find your next favorite read!
Slam Poetry at the Library: Join us for a poetry competition with The Dallas Poetry Slam. Poets will have three categories to choose from; Dead Poet Slam, Personal Story, General Slam. 11-11:50 in the Auditorium.

The Central Library is located on the northwest corner of Young and Ervay Streets in Downtown Dallas. Young Street will be closed between Akard and Ervay. Parking will be available in surface lots on Harwood, Griffin, and Jackson Streets, as well as street meters in the area. Please note that the Library's underground parking garage will not be available for public parking for this event.
A limited number of disabled parking spaces will be available - by disabled placard/license plate only - in the Library's parking garage (entrance on Wood Street). The J. Erik Jonsson Central Library is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
