With a Charleston County library card, you already know what a wonderful world is open to you. But did you know that becoming a Friend of the Charleston County Public Library is a great way to show your support, help fund library programs, and encourage reading in our community? Here in Charleston, the Friends are a vital means of support for thousands of library programs each year. Money raised by the Friends helps support a wide variety of programming like STEM learning activities for children, summer reading programs for kids and adults, health education series, computer classes for job training, and lectures from local historians, just to name a few. When you become a Friend, you join thousands of others in Charleston who want our libraries to have the resources they need to serve our community.
Even in a city that loves its libraries, public funding is not enough for libraries to provide all the important resources that residents seek. The Library depends on the generosity of Friends like you to support those resources. As an independent non-profit, The Friends invest in libraries so that they, and the communities they serve, thrive.
For more than 30 years, the Charleston Friends of the Library has been graciously giving time, talent, energy, and resources to ensure the entire Charleston community has access to a first-rate library system.
October 18-24 is National Friends of Libraries Week and it is the perfect opportunity for everyone who loves libraries to become a friend. Just visit our website to learn more.
Joining the Friends of the Library is a terrific way to make new friends, give back to the community and make our libraries even better. So please join today. If you have any questions, please contact Brandon Reid, the chair of our membership committee at reidb.sc@gmail.com.
Thank you so much for your support,
Sincerely,
Susan Hoffius
