Troublemaker : surviving Hollywood and Scientologyby Leah ReminiI've always wondered what went on with Scientology and have seen many documentaries regarding this. However, Leah has taken one of the biggest chances of her life and career to expose the inner workings of this organization. No matter how you feel about Leah after reading how she hardly had any childhood because her mother became a member of Scientology and moved the family where the children worked cleaning hotel rooms instead of going to public school and much more might open your eyes to what a great, caring person Leah is. I never cared for a certain actor she speaks of and the wedding she attended between him and his former wife and I care less of him now. I couldn't put this book down and hope that Leah and her family can now move on and enjoy life as it should be without taking classes and wasting money that could be used for better causes. Soul Search : A Zackie Storyby Reyna Favis Fia Saunders sees dead people, and sometimes fights with them. The condition led to years of therapy. Then she meets Cam Ramsey and his dog Zackie. Cam also sees dead people, but doesn't fight with them. And Zackie, well, Zackie is a psychopomp, a spirit that leads the dead into the afterlife. In SOUL SEARCH, by Warren County writer Reyna Favis, this trio teams up with Lucas Tremaine, a TV producer of ghost-hunting shows, who doubts the spiritual world exists, and together they chase spirits and their stories across time and several states. Under Cam's tutelage, Fia learns to channel her powers and begin to see spirits not as things, but as lost people, trying to transition into death. The lessons for Lucas are to understand that the spirit world is real and not just a made-for-TV profit center. Lucas' lesson becomes real as his wife Hannah faces death from cancer. The story is lively, exciting, at times terrifying and though-provoking. The characters are well drawn and give the readers an opening into the details of the real and spiritual world. For those new to the supernatural writing world it is a fun and imaginative introduction. Submitted by Michael

The lighthouse, the cat, and the sea : a tropical taleby Leigh W. RutledgeA Tropical Tale...a delightful tale told from the perspective of a cat, 31 year old Mrs. Moore, who was born aboard the schooner, Estella Gomez as it sailed the straits of Florida in 1899 in search of Spanish limes. She never will forget the hurricane that shipwrecked the Estella Gomez or her life in the cottage near the lighthouse in Key West after she was found on the beach and rescued by a boy, Griffin. Griffin's mother was the lighthouse keeper. Griffin loved Mrs. Moore all her days and when it comes time for her to die, she hopes "it will be in Griffin's arms, and that the last thing I shall ever see is his beautiful face with the lighthouse illuminated behind him." This was a charming story. Submitted by Eileen

Orange is the new black : my year in a women's prisonby Piper Kerman Piper Kerman takes the reader into the Danbury Federal Correctional Facility in Connecticut after being convicted of money laundering. Piper was an unusual inmate in that she was alumnus of Smith College and had a very loving and supportive family. She was sentenced ten years after looking for "adventure" in the wrong places. It is interesting to learn of her insightful assessments of herself and other inmates, to feel the fear and frustration in various circumstances in prison. And how she navigated through a completely foreign prison culture with the help of fellow prisoners. Submitted by Carol
