Krafty Kids Wednesdays 12 pm - 5 pm Drop In Grade Five & under Children in grades five & under are invited to drop-in and make a craft. There will be 75 crafts available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Saturday Morning Mix Saturdays 10:00 am- 12:00 pm Drop In All ages Come join the fun on Saturdays! LEGOs, music, blocks, board games and more! We will rotate library materials weekly. Once a month, on the second Saturday, Mr. Rowland will entertain us from 10 am -11am. The Saturday Morning Mix program will allow our young patrons many opportunities to learn about music, math and science, and to practice their pre-reading, social, and motor skills.

Paws to Read Thursday, October 11th 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Drop In Readers 12 and under There’s nothing better than a book in your hand and a fluffy friend by your side! Participants should bring a book with them so they are ready to read to the therapy dog when it is their turn. Please note: This program is for children who are reading on their own. All volunteer teams provided by Windwalker Pet Therapy.

Hooked on Books Monday, October 1st 6 pm. Grades 1-3 Register online for November's book club starting October 1st at 7 pm Do you love to read? Are you in grades 1- 3? If you answered yes to either of these questions, come join us on the first Monday of every month to hear the beginning of an entertaining chapter book and do a craft or activity to go along with it! Books will be provided to check out.

Chess with Sree Tuesday, October 9th 6 pm - 7 pm Ages 6- 12 Register online for November's chess class starting October 9th at 7 pm. Are you interested in learning how to play chess? Maybe you know the basics of chess and are looking for other kids to play with. Join us as Sree Dasari, a National Girls' Tournament of Chess participant, teaches us how to play chess. Register for each month’s class individually. No experience necessary.

Irish Step Dance Thursdays, beginning October 11th 9:30 am. & 10 am. Ages 3 - 5 Registration required!!. The Cumberland Library is excited to welcome back the Greene-Roy Academy of Irish Dance. Come join the fun as we learn the fundamentals of Irish dancing. Each 30 minute class will include learning basic beginner steps, creative movement and freestyle dancing. No prior experience is necessary. * 3 ½ year-old class from 9:30 to 10 a.m *4 ½ year-old class from 10 to 10:30 a.m. When considering this program for your child, be aware that this is a year-long commitment.

Heritage Ballet Thursdays, beginning October 11th 11 am. & 12 pm. Ages 3 & 4 Registration required!!. In this fun program, children will have the opportunity to experience classical ballet training with a talented ballet instructor! Each class will include a healthy mix of basic beginner ballet steps and creative movement done through popular children’s songs and freestyle dancing. *The program will run for one “school year” in accordance with Heritage Ballet’s 2018-2019 schedule. *No prior experience needed!

Tween Time Monday, October 15th 6 pm - 7 pm Ages 9-12 Register online Come join other 9-12 year-olds for fun with friends! This month our program is "FrankenToy Creation Lab." Create your own spooky figure or cute toy! Using stuffed animals, doll pieces, action figures, figurines, and old fast food trinkets, you can make your own FrankenToy come to life!

Minecraft Club for Kids Thursday, October 18th 6 pm - 7 pm Grades 2-5 Online registration for the Thursday Minecraft program will open the third Thursday of each month at 7:30pm. Get creative, start crafting! Build imaginative worlds and battle nocturnal creatures at Minecraft Club. Novice or expert, join the club and play with your friends in our very own world. Each club consists mainly of free play. Sometimes there are group activities, challenges, and/or MineCrafts. We provide laptops, accounts, and a secure server environment in which to explore and create! .

Sew Simple Saturdays: October 20th, November 17th, & December 15th 1 pm - 2 pm Ages 8-12 Register online beginning Tuesday, October 9th at 10 am Who wants to learn how to sew? Join us as we learn some hand-sewing basics. This program is a great way for “beginning sewists” to gain some confidence to start their own sewing adventure. Be aware that when you register for this series, you are registering for all three dates. These three classes will be a repeat of the program we offered last winter. Previous registrants are welcome to join us again.

Greg & Axel Show Sunday, October 21st 2pm Children 12 and under and their families Pick up your tickets in the Children's Room starting Tuesday, October 9th. Tickets are 50 cents per person. Greg the Magician and Axel the magic puppet need your help to save Halloween! The zombie bookworms are releasing all the spooky and silly monsters from the library books and we need to stop them before it ruins Halloween! This Magical comedy show will bring some old classics to life like Dracula, Frankenstein and the Mummy. All the magic will revolve around the books while weaving safety messages throughout the program. Some of the safety issues we cover will be: bring a flashlight, stay with your group, don’t eat candy until your parents check it, costume safety, and much more! (there is nothing scary) Greg’s programs are packed with magic, comedy, audience participation, and one real funny puppet dog!!

Fall Storytime The Winter Storytime Session begins on October 10th runs through Wednesday, February 23rd. All storytimes are drop in. No registration required. Babies and Books Mondays 10am. Birth to 23 months Babies and their caregivers will be introduced to stories, songs, nursery rhymes, and gentle movement activities. Just for Twos Wednesdays 10 am. Two-year-olds Simple stories and concepts will be reinforced using songs, rhymes, and fingerplays. Just for Preschoolers Wednesdays 11am 3 ,4 ,& 5 year-olds Engage your preschooler through stories, songs, and movement activities. Pajama Storytime Wednesdays 6:30 pm All ages Children are invited to wear their pajamas and bring a bedtime buddy along to join the fun. *Please note: there will be no Pajama Storytime on Wednesday, October 31st. Please help us provide the best experience for all by selecting an age-appropriate storytime for your child.
