Summer Reading Program All ages can participate in our Summer Reading Program and earn awesome prizes! You can register by going online at www.cumberlandlibrary.org. Anyone who completes 900 minutes (15 hours) of reading by Saturday, August 12th will complete our program and get to choose a free book. You can keep logging your reading through the first day of school though, and your awesome work will be shared with your schools! All library store prizes must be picked up by Saturday, August 12th before 11:30 am.

Pet Responsibility by the Ocean State Animal Coalition Tuesday, August 1st 2 pm Ages 5-12 Tickets available beginning Monday, July 24th in the Children's Room for 50 cents per child. Tickets required. Space is limited. This program emphasizes the importance of preparing for a new pet to join the family. Responsibility begins with making educated choices. It also includes information about why animals end up in shelters when the wrong choice is made. Students are lead through an interactive discussion that helps them understand many aspects of pet responsibility.

Bwana Iguana Wednesday, August 16th 10 am Children Ages 4 - 12 Tickets available beginning Monday, August 7th in the Children's Room for 50 cents per person. Tickets Required. Space is limited. Bwana Iguana is an exciting and educational interactive program that introduces the audience to the mysterious realm of reptiles. It also promotes conservation and understanding of the entire natural world.

Paws to Read Thursday, August 10th 6 pm - 7 pm Drop In Readers 12 and under Want to brush up on your reading skills? Love dogs? Practice reading with a therapy dog who loves to listen to stories!There’s nothing better than a book in your hand and a fluffy friend by your side! Participants should bring a book with them so they are ready to read to the therapy dog when it is their turn.

Book Buddies Thursdays through August 10th 2 pm- 3 pm Ages 4-10 Register Online This fun program will pair teen volunteers with children ages 4-10 who would like to practice reading to someone or who would like to be read to! We'll all gather with the Children’s and Teen librarians in the Children’s Program Room, and after reading time there will be fun literacy games and activities to explore together! Adults are asked to stay in the building during this program

Dancing Threads Children's Sewing Class Saturdays, August 5th and 12th 10 am - 11:30 am Ages 5-12 Register Online NOW! Join us as we learn practical sewing skills. This four-part series will cover button sewing, mending, patching, and decorative embroidery. Dates are Saturdays from 10-11:30am in the Children’s Program Room: July 15, July 22, August 5, and August 12. You can register for one session, or register for all four of them! Each of the four classes has separate registration forms to fill out, so make sure to fill out the registration for each day you want to attend!

Tween Time-Building With Love Wednesday, August 9th 6 pm - 7 pm Ages 9-12 Register Online NOW One of the most important parts of Building a Better World is helping others, whether it is helping them with something they need, or just lifting their spirits and putting a smile on their face. Join us as we give back with some kindness projects! Additionally, we will be brainstorming what Tween Time activities we want to do next year, so don’t miss this important planning session! Tween Time is a time just for tweens, those ages 9-12. Join Miss Kim and Miss Liz every month all year long for a different fun activity. Registration is required!

Babies and Books Storytime Mondays through August 7 at 10 am Birth through 23 months Connect with your baby through stories, rhymes, and songs, followed by a play time Starlight Family Storytime Mondays through August 7 at 6:30 pm All Ages For children of all ages and their families. Put on your pajamas and participate with your favorite bedtime pal in stories, songs, and fun! Family Storytime at the Gazebo Wednesdays through August 9 at 10 am For children of all ages and their families. Children and families will meet in the gazebo behind the library for this special summer storytime. Join us for stories, songs, and laughter. In the case of rain, meet inside in the Children's Room.
