Free Comic Book Day Saturday, May 6th 10 am - 5 pm All ages Drop In The Cumberland Public Library is transforming into a mini comic-con for Free Comic Book Day. Join the fun as we meet comic artists, dress up as our favorite characters, and participate in comics, sci-fi, and fantasy activities. This is the library's 3rd Free Comic Book Day event and it's our biggest yet! Visitors can take home up to 5 comics apiece while supplies last, including popular titles like Archie, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Doctor Who, Attack on Titan, Barbie, Monster High and many more. But that's not all! Activities (for children, teens, AND adults) include a "Riddle Me This" Scavenger Hunt, a Wonder Woman Amazon Training Academy, themed crafts, and a costume contest. Keep an eye out for special costumed guests; you never know who you might run into!

Fancy Nancy Soiree Saturday, May 20th 1 pm - 2 pm Register Online Children Ages 4 - 9 Children ages 4 - 9 are invited to join us in the Children's Room for an afternoon of everything fancy. Let's celebrate Fancy Nancy and her fabulous style! Start practicing your curtsy and come dressed in your most glamorous attire! Dresses, sunglasses, tiaras, and other sparkling accessories are all welcome. We'll read the first Fancy Nancy book by Jane O'Connor, have pink lemonade and cookies, and make some posh crafts! Register online or in the Children's Room beginning Wednesday, May 10th.

"Spring Has Spring" Scrapbooking Tuesday, May 23rd 6 pm - 7:30 pm Children Ages 8 - 12 Register Online Children Ages 8 - 12 are invited to register for a "Spring Has Sprung" scrapbooking program. Participants will be introduced to basic scrapbooking ideas and will have an opportunity to preview many books that offer tips and guidelines for this popular craft activity. Each child will be provided with basic materials for their individual scrapbook. Children are asked to bring their own pictures from home to create their scrapbook. Register for this program online or in the Children's Room beginning Monday, May 15th.

Saturdays: May 6th & 13th 10 am - 1 pm Drop In All Ages Through the generosity of the Friends of the Library, we are able to offer a wide variety of new building toys such as Magna-Tiles, Magz Bricks, and KAPLA blocks. All ages are welcome to come & play!Our Block Party season will end on Saturday, May 13th.

Paws to Read Thursday, May 18th 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Drop In Readers Ages 12 & under Open to readers ages 12 & under. Practice your reading skills with a dog from Windwalker Pet Therapy. There's nothing like a book in your hands and a fluffy friend by your side! This program is for children who are reading on their own. First-come, first-served.

Minecraft Club for Kids First Tuesday of Every Month: May 2nd program is FULL. 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm Grades 2-5 Register Online Space is limited. We provide laptops, accounts, and a secure server environment in which to explore and create! Registration for each session is separate and opens individually. Registration for June's Minecraft Session will open Tuesday, May 2nd at 6:15 pm.
