The incubator has arrived and is keeping 24 eggs warm and cozy! Stop by and see this amazing set-up. The chicks will hatch around the third week of April and stay with us until Friday, April 25. Their next destination? Casey Farm in Saunderstown, RI.

Storytime on the Spectrum
The Children’s Room will be offering a monthly storytime program for children on the Autism Spectrum. This is a special sensory based storytime for children ages 3 - 12 and their families. It will be held at 10:00 am on the first Saturday of the month in April and May. Please join us for this unique program April 5. The program will include picture schedules, sensory activities, and, of course, stories in this sensory friendly storytime. This storytime for children on the Autism spectrum is a drop-in program.
Cook-a-Book
featuring Little Mouse and the Big Cupcake by Thomas Taylor
The Children's Room is pleased to offer this program for children ages 4 - 9. This program will take place on Thursday April 10 at 4:00 pm. In addition to hearing this story, participants will enjoy a snack and make a cupcake craft to take home.
The Cook-a-Book program pairs stories and delectable food in a way that dates back many centuries.
Register for the program in the Children's Room. Please bring your library card with you when registering. Preference will be given to children who reside in Cumberland. Donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of materials.
Farm to Plate: Spring Harvest Cooking Fresh Food with Kids
It’s sure been a long winter, and everyone is ready to get outside and eat some fresh, healthy foods! Join us for our ongoing Farm to Plate cooking program for children ages 4 - 12. Stop by on Tuesday, April 22 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm where we will be cooking up some healthy foods that will fill you with energy and put a spring in your step! There will be a spring- themed story and children will make some snacks to eat. Come see how easy it is to eat healthy food that tastes good too!
This is a drop in program, no registration is required.
Scrapbooking Program Scrapbook Your April Vacation Memories!
Participants will be introduced to basic scrapbooking ideas and will have an opportunity to preview many books that offer tips and guidelines for this popular craft activity. Each child will be provided with basic materials for their individual scrapbook. Children are asked to bring their own pictures from home to create their scrapbook.
This special event will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. Registration begins Monday, April 14 in the Children’s Room. Please bring your library card when registering. Preference will be given to children who reside in Cumberland.
To defray the cost of the program materials, donations will be greatly appreciated.

Great news! During the four months that the Children’s Room participated in the 1 Million Good Nights Pajama Program we collected 108 pairs of pajamas and 44 books! We wish to thank the many generous and caring families that donated to this important cause.
