The 2018 Summer Reading Program is made possible through funding from: The Friends of the Cumberland Library, The Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services, and The Institute of Museum and Library Services. Krafty Kids Wednesdays,beginning September 5th 12 pm - 5 pm Drop In Grade Five & under Children in grades five & under are invited to drop-in and make a craft. There will be 75 crafts available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Music is Fun with Mr. Rowland September 5, 15, & 26 10 am Ages 0-7 Songs, dancing, and egg shakers! Mr. Rowland brungs his guitar and sings new and classic children's songs. *Please pick up your free token at the desk the morning of the program.

Half Way to St. Patrick's Day Saturday, September 22nd 10am Pick up your FREE tickets for this event in the Children's Room beginning Monday, September 10. Come join the fun as the Greene-Roy Academy of Irish Dance presents a celebration of Irish music and dance for children of all ages and their families. The children in the audience will be able to see and learn about the costumes and shoes used in performances, ask questions, and have the opportunity to try some basic dance steps with the dancers.

CumberCon Saturday, September 29th 10am- 4 pm Drop in, no registration required. CALLING ALL COMICS READERS, GAMERS, COSPLAYERS, SCI-FI AND FANTASY GEEKS… Come join the fun at the first-ever CumberCon. Children can attend Ghostbusters 101, Princess Storytime, a Pixelmon Tournament, and make a Ninja Hat. There will be plenty of selfie opportunities including a life-sized TARDIS and standees. Hooked on Books The 1st Monday of the month 6pm Grades 1-3 *Online registration begins September 10 at 6pm Join us to hear the beginning of a really great chapter book and discuss the previous week’s book. We will also be doing an activity or craft related to the book. Books will be provided to check out. Reluctant readers welcome!

Chess with Sree Registration Tuesday, September 11 Ages 6- 12 *Register online beginning Tuesday, September 11 at 7 pm ! Are you interested in learning how to play chess? Maybe you know the basics of chess and are looking for other kids to play with. Beginning on October 9, join us on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7 p.m. as Sree Dasari teaches us how to play chess. *Register for each month’s class individually. *No experience necessary. .

Heritage Ballet Online Registration 3 & 4 year-olds *Register online beginning Monday, September 17 at 10 am. Free ballet classes at the library for three and four year-olds taught by a talented ballet instructor! Students registering must be age 3 or 4 by August 31, 2018. Classes will take place on Thursdays at 11:00 and 12:00 beginning October 11 through June 6, 2019. No Classes: November 22, December 27 & April 4 * 3 year-old class will be from 11-11:50 a.m. * 4 year-old class will be from 12-12:50 p.m *When considering this program for your child, be aware that this is a year-long commitment.

Irish Step Dance Online Registration 3 & 4 year-olds *Register online beginning Monday, September 17 at 10 am. Learn the fundamentals of Irish dancing with the Greene-Roy Academy of Irish Step Dance. Each 30 minute class will include learning basic beginner steps, creative movement and freestyle dancing. No prior experience is necessary. *3 ½ year-old class will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Students registering must be age 3 by April 1st, 2018. * 4 ½ year-old class will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Students registering must be 4 by April 1st, 2018. Classes will start Thursday, October 11, 2018. The program will run through May 23, 2019. *When considering this program for your child, be aware that this is a year-long commitment. Registration is required as space is limited. A wait-list will be maintained. No Classes: November 1, 22, December 20, 27, January 3, February 21, March 14, & April 18.
